My passion for interiors

No.42 UK Exclusive with Kathrin Geller

One of my favourite finishing touches to a room is placing artwork and sculpture in situ. When chosen correctly it has the ability, not only to provide a talking point, but also to pull the whole room design together and so when we were approached by renowned German artist Kathrin Geller to exclusively supply her artwork into the UK there was no hesitation in saying ‘Yes!’.

Kathrin is relatively unknown in the UK but has a wide following across Europe, she has been creating unique works of art for more than 20 years and living in the beautiful scenic Schleswig region of Germany provides a constant visual source of inspiration for her art.

As with most artists, Kathrin has always been creative and artistically minded, however the Atelier concept was founded after she moved into a beautiful old apartment with high ceilings but couldn’t find the right piece of art to hang on her walls, and so again, like many artists, she created her own. The piece that she created was so unique that friends and family alike were fascinated, asking for their own, and soon friends of friends were ordering pieces too. With many orders delivered, Kathrin decided to go on to experiment with materials, colours and of course light, and so the concept ‘Atelier Kathrin Geller’ was born.

What I love the most is that Kathrin’s artistic passion is incorporated and felt in every unique piece of art whether it be in a home, office, hotel lobby or showroom. Visually the pieces are mesmerising,

I have found that hanging an Atelier Kathrin Geller piece on the wall instantly transforms the mood of a room creating a truly enchanting atmosphere, whilst instilling a sense of tranquillity, offering time to admire and contemplate thoughts. And…it is not just the pieces that provide a visual, when you spot their reflection in a window, mirror or glass wall they are equally as stunning, you could be forgiven for thinking it really is the moon!

Nature provides some of the most beautiful forms and ideas for art… just take a look at the sun, it rises, and sets again and again yet each are different and each time completely new and impressive in composition of light and colour. And the moon serves as a counterpart with its magical shining beauty at night. I try with my works to capture exactly this magic, so that it then can fill a room as an astonishingly warm mood.
